Standard Chartered KL Marathon 21.1km...

My first ever KL marathon and I beat my personal best from Sundown Half Marathon at this larian by 3 minutes :)

When I left the house to go to Rose's, it was already drizzling... And I told myself the weather was going to be just perfect for running...And it was kan, peeps? :)

I was still recovering from my 1-week old fever and I didn't really want to push myself since I was still coughing away and only managed to sleep for about 3+ hours from the previous night :(

This was the route for half marathon:

I usually D-R-I-V-E to these places in KL!!!

The first 10km route was really bad for me... I kept telling to myself that I will complete the half marathon in 2 hours and 45 mins ++.... I was pacing with Kak Nawal for the first 8km but she sprinted away after I had to stop for a couple of times to breathe and cough away...

Managed to say "hello" to Mr Rayzeef at the first 4km route... Well done on your timing! :)

After the 10km route, I felt a bit better and started getting into my running 'rhythm'...Bumped into Kak Haza as well before turning into Jalan Tun Razak...

Water and sponge stations were adequately more than enough this time as last year's complaints on KL Marathon were heard... ;)

Oh, and thank you to all of the runners that motivated me when I was stopping for air...Especially at the Pavilion and the KLCC routes respectively...

Decided to run all the way from Jalan Ampang to the finishing line (Dataran Merdeka)... And I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the timing on my watch...

I completed my 4th half marathon of the year in 2 hours and 33 mins!!! :D (Unofficial time - will update once I have the official one)

With my 4th finisher medal for the year for half marathon ;)
I was trying to 'sell' myself at KL marathon since my full name was printed on the running bib!!! :P

Woohoooooo!!!

And BIG congratulations to all of the runners and the first timers in all categories!!! Running is fun kan? ;)

Post race photos (of course :P):

Gloomy Day

The 2006 Champions bowed out of the World Cup last night at their last group stage game with Slovakia...

If only Buffon was the keeper for the last 2 games...

I have to say that they played badly this time around at this World Cup...

I can't believe I actually cried myself to sleep :(

Nevertheless, my heart will always stay with them.... And no other team...

Oh, well...Here's to Euro 2012 then...

Forza Italia!!!

Will channel out my sadness and frustrations to this Sunday's Half Marathon...

Have a good weekend everyone!

PS: To the runners, let's say 'Hi' to each other if we bump into each other at KL Marathon k? :)

Write the Future

Awesome ad by Nike Football for the World Cup fans:

The TVC was done by Wieden+Kennedy, Amsterdam.

You can read about the concept for the TVC from here.

What's so awesome about this campaign is that inspired footballers from around the world can go to nikefootball.com, use this creative and build their own Facebook campaign to get noticed and selected for "The Chance" - an elite Nike Academy football camp in partnership with Barclays Premier League in England that allows players to get scouted and noticed. (Taken from here)

I wonder if this applies to the ladies as well? ;)

Red Eye...

Recently, I bought these 2 supplements to try out from GNC:

GNC Double Strength Fish Body Oil

and

GNC Triflex™
Pics credit to GNC Malaysia website

A week later, I woke on Thursday morning with my left eye looking funny...

Close-up look on the red eye

Decided to go to the doctor on Friday morning since my left eye was looking smaller and redder...And I had a bad sore throat and feverish body to accompany my left red eye...

The doctor told me that it might be an allergic reaction to the supplements that I've started taking... So I am assuming that it's due to the 2 supplements above and she told me to lay off those 2 supplements for now...

Even with my red eye, it didn't stop myself to go out and watch the Italy vs New Zealand game last night...

Debuting my Italy 2010 World Cup jersey with my left red eye :P

Disappointing game last night though :(

Decided to go to the doctor again this morning and she gave a bunch of medicines for my eye, throat and nose...

Anyone out there can help me out on this since I don't want to waste those 2 newly bought supplements? :S

Quote of the day

"Running is a big question mark that there's each and every day. It asks you, 'Are you going to be a wimp or are you going to be strong today?'"

- Peter Maher, Canadian marathon runner -

Indeed. It's an ongoing battle that I have with my mind every morning, especially after performing my Subuh prayer where I'd ask myself, "To run or not?"'

And the quote above is a reminder to moi whenever I need the 'push' to run.. :)

Have a good weekend everyone! :)

Fun Day @ Work...

We've had our first potluck lunch at the agency today...

And we were required to wear the jersey/t-shirt of the team that we're supporting in the World Cup...

But obviously only a few obliged to that rule...

I wore Italy's 2006 World Cup jersey in blue...

Oh, and we even had a face paint session!

Well, only the 2 of us was into it... :P

With my colleague...She's a die hard fan of Italy too!!
(And we support Juventus! :D)

FORZA ITALIA!!! ;)

Nike Women's Marathon, San Francisco...

...is one of the marathons in my wishlist that I'd love to do...

This year's motto for the marathon...

Not only that it is a marathon dedicated to the ladies and the fact that it's a race to benefit The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (brownie points!), you'll be showered with these at the end of the race:

HOT HOT HOT Firemen in suits!!!
(Pic credits to Fit Mom)

And what could that be on the tray that they're carrying? ;)

Ladies, breathe in and breathe out:

A Tiffany & Co.'s finisher necklace *GASP*

How super awesome is that!!!

I WANTTTTT ONEEEEEEEE!!! (*Sounding like a spoilt brat*)

Maybe next year or in 2012 perhaps? ;)

Don't Quit

"When things go wrong as they sometimes will;
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill;
When the funds are low, and the debts are high;
And you want to smile, but have to sigh;
When care is pressing you down a bit -
Rest if you must, but do not quit.

Success if failure turned inside out;
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt;
And you can never tell how close you are;
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
It's when things go wrong that you must not quit."

- Author Unknown -

To the unknown author that crafted this beautiful poem, I thank you for reminding me when the going gets tough :)

World Cup Fever

The weather has been really bad for the past few days...

I'm literally sick because of that...

Oh, and the fact that the kickoff for World Cup is in 3 days time!!!

Pic credits to FIFA.com

Woohooooo!!!

I can't wait to watch 'my' team in action that I've been supporting since I was 15... (Thanks to my abang for his influence!)

If you read one of my previous posts, you'd know the team that I am supporting.. ;)

Here's to: sleepless nights, looking like a zombie at the office, junk food snacking, criticising players as though we can play like one of them, name callings to the players or the referees, hanging out with my boys, football talk and cheering my team for the next one month! :P

PS: There are so many players that are injured due to the friendly matches and might not make appearances for their teams respectively... You can check out the list here...I think if these injured players were to form a team, they'd be a kick-ass team to watch... Just my two cents worth... Don't you think so? ;)

Dedicated to all of the runners out there... ;)

Got this video from my friend in Singapore:

How true... I usually walk like a duck for 2 days after participating in a running event... ;P

Couldn't stop smiling-and-laughing when I saw this ad...

But seriously, do you guys out there get bloody nipples from running?

Must be super ouch! :S

I was in 'heaven'...

When I came across these 2 stores in Singapore:

1. Feder Sports, Peninsula Plaza

Pretty much every corner of the store was filled with running shoes!!!

Asics shoes!!! If only I have 1 pair of running shoes...

2. Running Lab, Funan DigitaLife Mall

Everything you need for running in one store... Bliss!!!

Why can't we have such stores here in KL? :S

Sundown Marathon Singapore 21km...

Completed my 3rd half marathon for the year! Yayyyyyyy! :)

The race started/ended at Changi Exhibition Centre...

We thought the race point will be the same as the one that we did 2 years ago, but it wasn't...

When we left the hotel at 730pm, we didn't think there was going to be any traffic...

Boy, we were wrong...

There were a lot of cars, we were stuck in traffic for about 30 mins and even got lost because we were not sure on the starting point...

We arrived at our destination 12 mins before the half marathon started!

3 of us before the race started:

Had a similar image taken 2 years ago:

:)

At the starting line...

I think there were about 5000 runners for this category... Couldn't really pace myself for the first 4km as there were LOADS of people running ahead of me...

Didn't bring my camera and phone during my run coz I wanted to concentrate on my running... ;P

My bladder decided to give me troubles so I had to stop for a toilet break at the 7km route...And there was only 1 toilet that was working!!! So I 'wasted' 4 mins of my time waiting for my turn... *Pppfftttttt*

The route was a flat one ( I like!) but there wasn't any view...Noise pollution from the planes taking off though...

The last 3km was very challenging...I really had to push myself to complete the half marathon...Sprinted at my last 1km...And nearly puked after that :P

Crossing the line! :)
Outfit for the run:  (New) Supernova Fitted Tank by adidas, Response 'Drei Streifen'  Baggy Short by adidas, Nike Elite Structure Cushioned Quarter running socks and Gel Nimbus-11 shoes by Asics

With my 3rd finisher medal for 21km for the year :)

Beat my previous record by 8 mins! Woohoooo! Personal best so far... *Pat on the back*

Pictures after the race:

These girls MADE me run 2 years ago :P
Much love to you both, Rose and Nyna :)

With the bootcampers that ran as well...
I don't know why I wasn't ready for this shot..
Big shoutouts to Luyen and Peggy for completing their first half marathons with superb timings respectively! HOOYAH!!!

The cheerleaders that came all the way from KL to support us...
Thank you from the bottom of my heart :)

2 years ago at Sundown:

We participated in 10km corporate team challenge
With Nyna, Rose and Hani

2 years later:

We're still happy with running! :)

The highlight of the night was when my Dadaa texted me and congratulated me on my half marathon... Finally, my father is on my side when it comes to my running activities ;)

BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Kak Haza and Mr Tey for completing the ultramarathon! You both are my idols! :)

Next run: Standard Chartered KL Marathon...
