Happy Tunes for Sundown Marathon...

These are some of the tunes that will be rocking my wireless walkman when I'm running my half marathon this Saturday night:

1. (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction - The Rolling Stones
2. Born To Run - Bruce Springsteen
3. One Way or Another - Blondie
4. Hey Soul Sister - Train
5. The Distance - Cake
6. You've Got The Touch - Stan Bush (This song was featured in the cartoon version of Transformers:The Movie in 1986... Awesome track!)
7. Bust A Move - Glee Cast
8. California Girls - Katy Perry
9. 1999 - Prince
10. Nothin' On You - B.o.B. featuring Bruno Mars

Yes...I'm a sucker when it comes to the 80's and 90's music ;)

But still got the latest songs to mix it up...Hehe...

Okay, I'm off to Singapore now!!!

By the way, tomorrow's race will mark my 2nd year anniversary in running :) :) :)

Wish me luck!!! :D

Denim.

...is an obsession that I've picked up ten years ago...Mainly on jeans...

But the sad thing was that most of my jeans at that time were hand-me-downs from my older brothers...

So you can imagine how baggy the jeans looked on me... But of course, I didn't have any fashion sense at that time and just wear whatever I think that was 'cool' to my liking... :P

And I actually started buying clothes for myself when I was in my senior year in high school, and that wasn't really a success since I didn't know how to 'flaunt' or 'accentuate' my body...Hehe...

Hence, I started to understand the art of shopping and styling during my first year in Melbourne ;)

I started collecting non-other than Levi's jeans of course...

My Levi's Collection that I brought back from Melbourne

Then I fell in love with Bettina Liano's denim collection.... And pretty bought pretty much all of the jeans in different style or colour within 2 years after that...

My Bettina Liano Collection

There was also phase where I was into the 'designer' jeans... Basically it's the American branded jeans...Thanks to the celebrities and the fashion magazines...

My America Collection: Se7en Jeans for Mankind, True Religion, Rock & Republic, Citizens of Humanity, Guess

I also started buying Australian branded jeans (besides Bettina Liano)...

My Aussie Collection: Portmans, Nobody Jeans, Satch, Sass and Bide, Bardot, Ksubi (formerly known as Tsubi)

There were also jeans from other countries that I've added to my collection:

My Other Countries Collection: Edwin (Japan), Diesel (Italy), Topshop (UK), Nudie/Denimbirds (Sweden), Iceberg (Italy)

These 2 babies were my best friends when I was buying all dem' jeans while studying in Melbourne:

and

:P

To date, I have a total of 35 jeans in my wardrobe here in KL... And I've left about 8 pairs in Melbourne... I told you that it is an obsession...A very bad one indeed..:P

Since I came back to KL, my denim maniac act has cooled down...Like A LOT!!! Guess coz the good ones are usually expensively priced over here and I actually have to pay with my own money :P

Lately, I've been abandoning my jeans due to the current hot weather in KL... But it's not going to stop me from buying another pair ;) There are a lot of brands out there that I've yet to lay my hands on... *wink*

And yes I know that I only have a pair of legs... Hah...

I do collect other denim materials such as handbags, pencil cases, skirts and dresses...But those couldn't beat my jeans collection...

So it was a natural thing to add 'Denim' as one of the 3-word title for my blog...

Think you can beat my obsession in Denim? :P

Quote of the day

"I have often said that I wish I had invented the blue jeans: the most spectacular, the most practical, the most relaxed and nonchalant. They have expression, modesty, sex appeal, simplicity - all I hope for in my clothes."

- Yves Saint Laurent, Fashion Designer -

Note: This is not a random post...Though I'm digressing from my usual posts on running...There's a reason to it (and I'm 'distracting' myself from being anxious over the upcoming Sundown Marathon) ... So, stay tuned! :)

Happy Friday! :)

Here's a controversial/funny ad by Pearl Izumi (a brand specialises in running, cycling, and active outdoor wear that's obviously not here in KL :P) that I'd like to share with you all:

Here's a close-up look on the copy:

Go and do other runners :P

Have a good weekend everyone! :)

A first timer...

And there's no turning back...

I'm filled with a bundle of emotions at the moment...

Will I be able to accomplish this?

Be positive, girl... You can do this!

And you have about 6 months to train for it...

Nothing is impossible in this world when you have the will, right?

(In this case, a superwill :P)

Oh well...I hope that I would be 'fit' and 'good' enough for it when that day comes...

42.195km at Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore, bring it on babyyyyyy! :D

At our last 2km of the run... Posing like tourists...
(Featured the picture above in this post about the run)
The 2 pictures above were taken by Kak Haza

At the last 1km: We are OK and happy to be finishing the run soon!
(eventhough we were cursing to ourselves and legs were aching already)
Taken by Mr Tey

This must have been shot when we were busy posing for Kak Haza..Hehe..

New Balance Pacesetters 15km Run...

The run started and ended at Padang Merbok, Kuala Lumpur... The same place where I used to go for my bootcamp trainings previously...

My running buddies on that morning were:

Kak Nawal

Blurry pic of us - with Rose and Nyna

The route: It was not too bad at the first 4 km of the run... But it got really challenging when we entered the Bukit Tunku area.. *Curse to the developers of Bukit Tunku!!!*

Furthermore, there were only like 3 water stations... Thumbs down for this...

Here are a couple of pixies during the run:

It was already H-O-T at 7 plus in the morning!

We made friends while running at the Bidor Half Marathon...

Kak Nawal, Rose and Mr Po-po posing before entering the Bukit Tunku route

As you can see, it was so so HOT and this was taken at one of the hills...
Pretty much everyone was walking including myself...

Me not liking this hilly route and sticking a tongue to it!:P
Outfit for the day:
Adidas King of The Road's 2008 Running Jersey, Response 'Drei Streifen' Baggy Short by adidas, Nike Elite Structure Cushioned Quarter running socks and Asics Gel Nimbus-11 shoes

But Kak Nawal made sure that we stick to each other until the finishing line...

Nyna, Moi, Kak Nawal and Rose at our last 2km...
Thanks to Kak Haza for this lovely shot of us! :D

So, the four of us ran hand-in-hand to the finishing line and clocked in our 15km run at 1 hours and 55 mins...

Not my PB since I didn't really train for this run... *Padan muka*

But the run definitely did 'wake' my legs up to train for the Sundown Marathon... Hehe...

Eventhough we were super dead tired from the race, we managed to camwhore as usual :P:

With my finisher medal ;)

With the bootcampers #1

With the bootcampers #2

4 of us with our finisher medals :)
Officially have a 2-toned coloured body now :P

Front and back view of the medal

With Uncle Jauhari, CEO of Malakoff and my dadaa's friend who's a triathlete! Power!

With Kak Haza herself...
She'll be doing her first ultramarathon (84km) at Sundown next week..
Super MAD respect for her! ;)

With Lily...See you at Sundown next week! ;)

Now, I need to find a good reflexologist to massage my achy breaky legs!!!

Next run: Sundown Marathon @ Changi Exhibition Centre, Singapore...

Friday, May 14, 2010

Oooh Nooooo... It's Friday!!!

And I haven't been running for the past 2 weeks (except for yesterday which was a mere 3km only)...

I am a very, very, very bad girl... *Spanking myself*

Oh, well just going to do my 'best' for this Sunday's New Balance Pacesetters 15km run...

Have 15 more days 'til Sundown Marathon... I will supertrain for this!

On a side note, came across these series of ads by Nike Women on celebrating 'real' women:

This campaign ran in 2005... The same year that Dove ran its Campaign For Real Beauty...

And the talents were actually picked out from gyms across America...

What do you think of these ads?

PS: Have a good weekend everyone! :)

Another great companion for running by Sony

Yesterday, I was surfing the Sony website as I was doing a proposal on prizes for a contest for a client of mine...

In December 2009, I got myself this baby below to accompany me when I'm running:

The wireless MP3 walkman!

And this baby has been supergood to me :) Plus it motivates me to run faster...

(Apparently, studies have shown that if you listen to music while you're working out, you tend to perform much better (according to a write-up in Women's Health Magazine))

But then, I saw this baby yesterday on the site:

It's a bloggie!!!

You can record everything as it has a 360-degree video feature and you can even take pictures (5 Mega Pixel) with it! But, the cool thing about bloggie is that:

It has a built-in USB connector!!!

Major brownie points to Sony for this innovative product! :D

This will be another perfect companion for me to 'camwhore' while I'm running... :P

It's retailed at RM899...

Soooo going to get this baby soon!

*But wishing that someone out there would buy me one! Heh!*

running cleanses the mind and body

My post title above is a tagline from ASICS' latest global campaign which was launched earlier this year...

I saw the ads while flipping through my Women's Health magazine...

And the tagline speaks for every runner out there...

All elements of the campaign focuses on the transformative power of running... Burdened by the countless negative influences that weigh us down each day, each runner the campaign demonstrates how negativity can be cleansed through running... (Taken from here)

Here are the print ads:

This ad uses -ve adjectives such as worry, doubt or stress

This ad uses -ve adjectives such as rage, sadness or insecurity

Kudos to ASICS for this brilliant campaign!

You can check out the entire campaign here

I wish I could just run all the time...

Quote of the day

"You have to wonder at times what you're doing out there. Over the years, I've given myself a thousand reasons to keep running, but it always comes back to where it started. It comes down to self-satisfaction and a sense of achievement"

- Steve Prefontaine, Running Legend -

Mighty spot-on, Mr Prefontaine :)
