The City By The Bay

Hi everyone!

Sorry for the lack of updates! Was busy with the launching of Sukan G, especially with the Facebook page, up until my last day in KL!!!

And now I'm in the West Coast with Captain and feeling the jet-lag and under the weather... But loving the city at the moment! I used to come here a few times with my family but of course couldn't remember a thing, so it's kind of refreshing to be here again :)

And I have to say that it's probably going to be my 2nd favourite city in the States! The people here are warm and friendly, the food is superyummy, everything is accessible and it feels safe to be walking on the streets, and there are lots of runners here! This city reminds me a lil' bit of Melbourne too... Only that it's better ;) (Sorry my dear 2nd kampung!)

Shall update from time to time... In the meantime, enjoy the pics :)

Captain and I at Pier 39

The luscious tree and beautiful flowers at Golden Gate Park

At one of the houses on the way to Alamo Square... An idea for my old jeans perhaps ;)

At the famous Postcard Row

One of the pretty hearts 'left' all over the city

At the beautiful Palace of Fine Arts, our 5km marker for this morning's run

I might have to come back to this place again and run a marathon ;)

Oh and it's 6 more days 'til Chicago Marathon!!!

International What?! @ Taiping International Marathon

It was my first race (and long run too!) after my injury... I was really excited about it as I've never been to Taiping before...

Well, I was more excited about the road trip and the food actually :P

One of the best Chee Cheong Funs I've had at Taiping Hawker Centre

Only in Taiping - Kelempong Satay!!! Super yummy!!!

I thought that when organisers put 'International' in a running event's title, we runners would actually expect somewhat an organised race... Sadly, that wasn't the case...

We pretty much ran with cars passing us by as the roads were not closed, we even had to cross the streets on our own (except for the times where the policemen were manning at the traffic lights), no cones were provided to divide the runners and the cars, late flag-off (one hour!)... Sponges were provided much more than water... Oh, and who in the world would give Spritzer's POP at the water stations to runners?!!

Despite all of that, the weather was breezily awesome!!! It was cloudy, windy and it drizzled for a while... Fotuenti accompanied and ran with me throughout the route (terima kasih!) It's always better when you have someone to run with ;)

And the route was scenic too! Loved the beautiful giant trees along the hilly route! So I forgive you organisers for throwing such a bad race for us :P

I was worried that my left leg was going to act up since I've ran a few times before that and that I was still feeling the strain on my inner thigh area... So my aim was just to finish the race since I can't really push myself as I've a big race coming up real soon ;)

But Alhamudulillah!!! My left leg behaved sooooooooo well on that day that I was beaming after the race :D :D :D

Seeee!!! ;)

So I crossed the 21.64km route in 2 hrs 23 mins with sheer joy!!! I am so proud of my legs!!!

Both of us are wearing running tops from Sukan G ;)
Check us out (Sukan G page) on Facebook!

I think our last race together was back in January ;P

And what is a race without posing for the camera ;P
This is our cheerleader pose ;)

So, yes! I've conquered three races in Perak (Bidor, Ipoh and Taiping) already! And I have to say that I like Bidor's one the best so far!

And I think my legs will be just fine for Chicago :)

Fun weekend it was! And I hope all of you had a good one too!

Rise and Shine :)

My legs have been 'sleeping' well for the past 6 weeks...

I finally 'woke' them up last Saturday :)

And it feels good to be moving those legs again!!! Guess I needed that rest, huh? ;)

Slowly but surely, I am going to finish my second World Marathon Major in October insyaAllah... PB or no PB ;)

And I have this motivational video shared by the organisers to inspire me to do so :)

So bring it on Chicago!!! :D

R.E.S.T.

Haha I'm totally feeling like this at the moment!!! :P
Taken from I ♥ to run's FB page

The upper inner thigh on my left leg has been experiencing painful moments... I started feeling this pain a few days before my PW at Sundown Marathon back in May... But decided to ignore it...

When I completed my home marathon back in June, the pain came back again, and it took me about 2 weeks to fully recover and walk like a normal person... Which was odd as it usually takes me about 2-3 days to recover and not walk like a retarded girl anymore :P

(Completed two marathons and still decided to ignore the pain *Naughty me* :P)

Anyhoo... I finally 'got' what I wanted... During my last run last month at Shape Night Run, I felt the pain throughout the entire 12.3km route...

So I decided to visit a sports doctor and did x-ray/ultrasound on my leg a few days after the race... And the doctor finally told me that I've a muscle inflammation on that area and that my left pubic bone is sort of 'curving away' from its position because of the falls that I've had from playing futsal previously *Cry*

ANDDDDD that it would take me about 6 weeks to recover!!!

I was speechless *drama*... And I told the doctor that I could not afford to rest that long as I've to train for my last marathon of the year... So yeah, I'm currently undergoing physio sessions (and resting) to make it heal faster... And doing a lot of stretching workouts for the legs... I realised that stretching is utterly and completely important (pre and post workout!)... And I didn't take it seriously before this... So, lesson learned!

Still trying to be optimistic about my PB dream at Chicago Marathon... I do get a lil' envious of my running friends when they post their running workouts on dailymile or Facebook at the moment as they're training as well for their next upcoming marathons respectively...

But I know that I should just chill my leg out first... And I'm trying to do other workouts that I'm allowed to such as swim, bike or row... Or even *cough* walking :P

My sessions will end by next week and it has been almost 3 weeks since I've last ran... I hope that I'll be able to start running again and just train for the remaining weeks I have for my second Marathon Major... PB or no PB... Sigh... Oh well, it's better than not being able to run at all right?

Until then, I shall try to write more on this blog ;) Oh, and stretch more!

Have a good week everyone!
